You’re probably wondering what a file cabinet has to do with the impact you have on the world. Let me explain…
“Each day I get a glimpse. A glimpse further into the impact we have on those around us. The impact that has the potential to change a life.”
It was a simple thing really that many people wouldn’t take a second thought at.
A couple weeks ago, I shared one of our family favorite dinners on social media, the Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme.
A couple weeks ago.
I tend to be a person that sees things online and thinks “I’m going to make that!” Then I file it away in my mind. Or so I thought I did.
Apparently I put alot of things into the trash can instead of the filing cabinet.
Basically, I forget.
I forget alot of things.
Today my husband asked me a question. I answered him with “Yes, do this”. Then my mom called, I got distracted and then completely forgot what I told him so he “couldn’t do this.”
In a span of two minutes I forgot my conversation with him.
How is that even humanly possible? Yep….it is with me.
Tonight one of you sent me a text message. It was a picture of the Crunchwrap Supreme that she made and wanted to share it with me. I love when you do because I get to see the joy and feeling a sense of satisfaction when you do something I share.
Remember, it had been TWO weeks ago and she sent me a text TODAY.
She remembered and filed it away.
Now, I want to make a small disclaimer here – I don’t forget 100% of things. Just maybe 80% of things
Two weeks ago, I encouraged this lady to try something new.
Today, she did it!
This was my glimpse today.
A glimpse I needed on a day that I was just feeling off. I was reminded of the influence we have with the smallest of things. The small things with how we share, serve and interact.
Another lesson for me as I close the day out? I need to make sure I use my filing cabinet versus the trash can with some of the relationships close to me.
You can share love and kindness with the world. But when you show short tempers and forgetfulness with those closest to you, then you’re not living what you preach.
Forward this to someone that needs to hear it today and file it away so you can come back to it time and again when you need that reminder.
