Shepherds pie is an all-time favorite for many families but this Mac and Cheese Shepherds Pie is going to be your favorite!
I don’t care what is going on in your life, sometimes we just want a hearty meal that we aren’t going to care about the calories of. Whether you’re on a diet and are ready for a cheat day or you’re always a meat and potato person, this Mac and Cheese Shepherds Pie is going to please. I am a HUGE carb lover and so it is one of my favorites!
Notes:
I didn’t cook the mac and cheese for as long as the package stated so that the noodles didn’t end up too soft. They turned out just perfect for me, but if you want a super soft noodle, feel free to cook them a bit longer.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Add ground beef to a skillet and brown, chopping as it cooks. Drain the grease when done cooking.
Fill a medium saucepan half full with water. Bring to a boil.
Pour the noodles from the box of macaroni and cheese in and cook for 5 minutes, or until noodles are tender, but not quite done.
Pour noodles into a strainer to drain the water, then return to the saucepan.
Add butter, cheese packet from box of mac and cheese, and milk, stir well.
Add mixed veggies, cream of mushroom soup, and ground beef to a large bowl and mix. Pour into a large casserole dish
Top the mixture evenly with the macaroni and cheese..
Bake for 25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and serve hot!
I can promise you that this is going to be a new family favorite.
