I never really paid much attention to owls.
They were interesting, sure. If I saw one, I’d stop and take it in—but I didn’t feel connected to them. They always felt a little mysterious… maybe even sneaky. They come out at night, they don’t make a sound, and they seem to know things the rest of us don’t.
But recently, something’s shifted.
Owls have started showing up in my creative work—and in my heart.
And the more I sit with it, the more I realize… I’m drawn to what they represent.
Stillness.
Watchfulness.
Wisdom.
Not the kind of wisdom the world shouts about. Not hustle-smarter, read-this-book, get-your-life-together wisdom.
But the slow kind.
The kind that grows in the quiet.
There’s a verse in James that has been echoing in my spirit lately:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” — James 1:5
That hits me deep. Because I do lack wisdom sometimes. I get overwhelmed. I chase clarity when maybe what I really need is just… Him.
And He’s not stingy about it.
He doesn’t say, “Figure it out first, then come to Me.”
He says, “Ask. I’ll give it to you.”
Proverbs 3:13–18 says wisdom is more precious than jewels. It calls her a tree of life. And I don’t know about you, but that’s something I want rooted in the middle of my life.
I think that’s why I’ve started painting more owls. Not just because they’re fun for fall, but because they’re a physical reminder for me to slow down and seek the real kind of wisdom.
The God kind.
They remind me to be okay with the quiet. To pause before reacting. To trust that just because I don’t see what’s ahead doesn’t mean God doesn’t.
That’s what we’ve been talking about inside the DreamMakers VIP group—how creativity and faith go hand in hand, and how God often speaks in the middle of what feels like ordinary moments.
If this speaks to something in you… I want you to know you’re invited.
You don’t have to have it all together. You don’t have to know all the steps.
You just have to ask.

We’re creating, growing, and learning to listen for His voice, together.
And maybe, just maybe… the owl isn’t sneaky after all.
Maybe she’s just wise enough to know when to be still.
