Creating A Spa On A Budget

    In home spa

When people think of a spa they think of “expensive”.  I know I do.  While I would love to have spa days at least once a month where someone else does all of the prepping and pampering, real life doesn’t let that happen.  Creating a spa on a budget in your own home doesn’t have to be expensive though.  AND, you can get the same added benefits of paying hundreds of dollars for someone else to create one for you. Creating your own spa is easy when you use your 5 senses!  It’s that simple! Sight – candles are the first thing that people think of when it comes to…

    Success Versus CRAP Identity?

In order to achieve success you have to believe that you are capable of achieving it.  What is success versus crap identity?  Many of us have a lot of CRAP that we tell ourselves.   That we aren’t smart enough or good enough.  We have limiting beliefs inside of us that hold us back from the true successes that are within our reach.  Another CRAP thought is “I’m stuck!”.  It’s those limiting beliefs that keep us from moving forward.  You become frustrated and have difficult times because of these limiting beliefs.  That CRAP is what is keeping you from succeeding.  Simply put, you are letting that CRAP be your identity!  If…

Then we grow up.  As a toddler we commit sins in a selfish nature when we don’t want to share a certain doll or toy truck.  Simple, but nonetheless, a selfish sin.  As we grow older we may commit other, greater sins.  Maybe as a teenager…

    Easter Mantel Reveal

The passing of seasons and holidays signals change – and I love it!  Change brings newness in life and in decor!  Today, I am revealing my Easter Mantel with you!  It was all done and ready as soon as St. Patrick’s Day was done – I don’t waste time around here on decorating 🙂 Most of the items on my mantel have been made me – that’s just how I roll.  But guess what, I can make them for you, or I can tell you how to make them yourself! I made this Easter Bunny banner last year and it is going to be that piece that I use every…

    Beef Stroganoff

I had company visit the other day and wasn’t expecting them to stay for dinner.  But when it happens, I always welcome feeding friends and family.  I had hamburger thawed but hadn’t really planned what I was going to use it for.  In comes a homemade Beef Stroganoff.  I didn’t have the typical ingredients (cream of mushroom soup mix for one) to create this dish but I had some other ingredients that I knew I could throw together and create just a dish that was just as satisfying!  And let me tell you – it was better than any boxed or canned meal.  Everything from scratch tastes better. Here’s what…

    Red Velvet Brownies

Brownies and cuteness?  YES!!  Don’t you just love when a recipe comes along that is easy and DELICIOUS!  This simple recipe takes a simple cake box mix and is transformed into an amazing brownie!!!  I used a simple heart cookie cutter for these and made them for Valentine’s Day but you could easily mix it up and use different shaped cutters for different holidays!  How about a “STAR” for the 4th of July?  Or a “CANDY CANE” for Christmas?  Or maybe a “BALLOON” for a birthday party? Here’s what you need: 1 box red velvet cake mix 1 egg 1/2c butter 1t vanilla – this is my homemade vanilla extract –…

    Perfection is the DEVIL

Why would anyone want to be less than perfect?  That would make life easy, right!  It seems like the easy road – but it’s that harsh inner voice telling us to be perfect that destroys us and keeps us from following the amazing path before us.  Striving and driving yourself to perfection actually destroys you.  It has at times stopped me from making art,  kept me from intimacy, and kept me from building relationships.  I didn’t want to show up unless I was perfect and it stopped me from doing so many things.  I turned down a lot of opportunities to ensure that no one found out how imperfect I was. People say…

    The PERFECT Angel Biscuits!

I have been in search of the PERFECT biscuit recipe for several months now.  Personally, I believe that Pillsbury Grands fits all my criteria for a good biscuit but I’ve been wanting to try my hand at some homemade ones. I’ve tried about six different recipes and they never turn out quite the way I want.  They were either too hard, tasted too much like flour, or it simply wasn’t the consistency I was going for.  Every recipe spins off of a pretty basic recipe, but some call for buttermilk, some do not, some call for self-rising flour, some do not.  I wanted something that was SIMPLE. In all the trial…

Kind Words Lead To Kind Thoughts

You can speak a million kind words to other people, but the ones that mean the most are the ones you speak to yourself. Those are the echoes you need to hear. This piece is hung as a daily reminder to me. Letting the ego and the devil speak words to you won’t lead you or guide you to greater things. They both speak with selfish motives. Let the kind words of your heart speak and listen to those echoes. Let them overpower those of the ego. If you don’t speak kind words to yourself, you will have no kind words to give anyone else. If you are telling yourself…

Shine Your Light Amidst the Darkness

The sun is a shining force to guide us and light the way. But the moon and the stars, although subtle, also light the way. Stars cannot shine without darkness. In order for a light to shine bright, darkness must also be present. A certain darkness is needed to see the stars. I will love the light for it shows me the way, but I will also endure the darkness because it shows me the stars. The thing dreams are made of. This is a reminder to me to shine “my” light even when I feel darkness. Darkness will devour me if I am afraid of it. I will accept…

    Who’s Doing Your Dirty Laundry

We have all been there – the mountain of laundry that seems to pile up no matter how often we attack it. You may wait until one day a week to tackle this feat while others, like me, attempt to do a load or two a day in order to keep it under wraps. Let me tell you, neither way works. There always seems to be more that needs to be done. LAUNDRY NEVER ENDS! But what about our other “dirty laundry”? You know the kind that we ALL carry that the world would refer to as shame. Things that have happened to us in the past, been inflicted upon…

Word Of The Year – COURAGE!

Courage is a desirable quality to have and a way of life that most want to embody. But the actual act of having courage is a challenge. It means being willing to face fear and embrace uncertainty; and let's face it, life is FULL of uncertainties. Most people wait for courage to fall into their lap when circumstances are "right" to face whatever challenges are ahead of them. Not knowing what is on the other side is scary. Most people wait for the universe to give them a sign letting them know - you can be certain now! Have courage! But the universe isn't going to give that to you.

Are You Enjoying Life Or Letting It Pass You By?

What is ingrained in us that makes us have such a desire to do something different and rarely follow through with it? We have such a desire to do what society thinks we should yet we lose focus on what God wants us to do. Do you have a clear picture of how your days should be spent and is it line with what God wants for you? Granted, we don’t know what the path we will follow will look like BUT we can choose to make the path a scenic one along the way. During this holiday season, I resolve to document SOMETHING about every day. It could be a silly comment from my…
