Cheap and easy DIY’s are a must when I decorate my home for the seasons; this Easy Pumpkin Banner Makeover was the perfect addition to my home.
There are many stores out there now that have really stepped up their game when it comes to decorating your home. I can walk into a lot of stores and find things that I love just as they are sold.
Sometimes though, I like to grab a cheap item that doesn’t match my decor just so that I can transform it and make it perfectly my own.
This project really was just about painting and adding some beads making it perfect for anyone to create.
Following the pattern that was originally planned for this piece. I just removed the twine and started painted the pieces in my coordinating colors and added some shading.
I left the white pumpkins plain for the first step since that’s the look I was going for.
For the orange, I just put a light coat of white paint letting some of the orange show through.
I did not want the green pumpkins since they don’t match my color scheme so I painted them a pretty aqua color.
Next, I just added some light layers of different contrasting colors.
Once I was happy with the look of all my pumpkins, it was time to put it all back together!
At this point, you can just thread it back onto the twine you purchased it with, or you can step it up a notch and add some wooden beads.
I left these plain and didn’t paint them. I think it added to the beachy farmhouse look I was going for. And yes, I live in Kansas and am still trying to have the beachy farmhouse 😉
Depending on how long you want your banner to be, that will determine how many wooden beads you want to use. I opted to use six between each pumpkin.
To finish it all off, I just made some twin bows and attached them to every other pumpkin.
I highly encourage you to find a similar banner in your area! Grab it and make it your own! If you like “seeing” it put together, check out this video.
