The 4th of July is all about Firecrackers so I’m going to share with you how to create your own Firecracker Sign using balloon weights!
Creating EASY and quick pieces for the 4th of July is one of my favorites! It’s all about summer, fun and fireworks! I thought it would be fun to incorporate the illusion of fireworks into a piece and this is what I came up with. Even if you don’t have access to a never ending wood supply, you can still create your own.
Yes, the balloon weights give the fireworks their “bang” without being overwhelming. I personally think any three-dimensional piece has a lot more personality than those that don’t.
First you’re going to want to paint your wooden pieces. I chose blue for the main piece and then red and silver for the “firecrackers”.
After your paint is dry, you can gently sand the edges to distress them slightly.
Taking your smaller pieces, apply your “snap”, “crackle” and “pop” vinyl OR you can stencil/freehand.
I personally LOVE my Silhouette Cutter and so 90% of the time I use that for my lettering. For this Firecracker Sign, I alternated black and white lettering.
Now for the balloon weights!
Using wire cutters, clip apart your balloon weights so you can attach them individually.
Using hot glue, attach them to your board and cover with the smaller “firecracker” pieces.
You can give this Firecracker Sign as a thank you gift if you are attending a party somewhere or keep for yourself to display.
What is your favorite thing about the 4th of July? Do you like seeing fireworks displays or creating your own?
