Show your mom your appreciation with this DIY Succulent Planter! I’ve also got a FREE printable tag for you making gift-giving EASY!
Succulents are all the rage right now! I LOVE them because they are so easy to take care of! Succulents are great gift items for almost anyone – they take little care. It’s not a high-maintenance plant. That’s a win in my book.
The first thing you need to know is that drainage is a MUST! If you don’t have drainage when you use everyday items for your planter, your plants will fail. Just keeping it real here. It doesn’t matter how much of a green thumb you have.
The first layer is going to be your sand. You can purchase craft sand at any store. You want a good two inches depending on your container size.
Your next layer is going to be dirt. Depending on the succulent plants that you bought (or if you are using artificial) you can buy some dirt or use the bottom of the live succulent. Just break apart the dirt and put a small portion into your container.
The next layer is going to be your decorative rock. You can use natural colored rocks or white depending on the look you are going for. I got these rocks in the craft section at Walmart.
A thin layer is all you need. If you still see some dirt through the middle – that’s ok.
The top layer is going to be your succulent. Depending on your container, if there is a wide opening, you can add some floral moss to it.
You’re going to want to water your succulent slightly since it’s been replanted.
Isn’t she lovely?!! I just adore these DIY Succulent Planters!
There is just something about succulents that makes them irresistible!
Now it’s time for your FREE Mother’s Day Tag Printables! Print them, cut them out, and tie them on with ribbon or twine.
