Being a mom of two busy boys AND a grandma, it’s safe to say that life can get CRAZY! A calming linen spray is just what I needed! Sleep is something that doesn’t come naturally to me. Unfortunately, many people have sleep issues due to the rising use of electronics.
I knew that I needed something to help me and my family sleep naturally that didn’t require the use of lots of medications. American’s tend to take pills to help them sleep and pills to keep them awake – and we haven’t been immune to that. In an effort to bring more natural products into my home so that hopefully my kids can learn better ways, this DIY calming linen spray was the perfect solution!
Creating your own is so simple – you’ll have it ready in less than 5 minutes!
I purchased a spray bottle from and removed the label so I could make it pretty. That’s a requirement in my household 🙂 I used my Silhouette Cameo to print and cut a cute sticker but you can create some cute Avery labels too.
Making the natural calming linen spray only takes two simple ingredients:
Distilled water and 6 drops of Lavender Essential Oil. If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices. Lavender is often considered a must-have oil to keep on hand at all times due to its versatile uses, including calming and relaxing properties that promote peaceful sleep and ease feelings of tension. Lavender is the most popular essential oil and the most versatile!
Shake before using each night to evenly distribute the oils in the distilled water and lightly spritz your pillows and bed sheets. (Caution – don’t use to much – you don’t want to get into a wet bed). Spritzing the pillows and sheets about 10 minutes before you lay down is perfect.
Relax with the peaceful scent of lavender and catch up on your favorite book and before long, you’ll naturally drift off to a sweet sleep. And that book? It’s a MUST READ for any women!! Rachel is the girl to tell ya like it is – the good, the bad and the ugly! You can get your own copy HERE. It’s quickly become a best-seller for a reason 🙂
This is a great item to use all the ways from toddlers to adults! This also makes for great gift-giving!
Other uses for Lavender:
- Keep a bottle of Lavender on hand to soothe occasional skin irritations.
- Take internally to reduce anxious feelings (see website for specifications)
- Use in cooking to soften citrus flavors and add a flavorful twist to marinades, baked goods, and desserts.
What are some of your favorite essential oils to use? Have you read Rachel’s best-seller?

I love simple, natural solutions like this! And your rule about making things pretty made me smile. I tend to be more of the practical sort so I don’t always take time for that. But when I do, it does always feel good and make me smile when I see the beauty!

I like to make things myself so this sounds like something I would make and use. DIY is always better.

This is a great idea. Sometimes I have such a difficult time falling asleep at night mostly because I have so much on my mind. This calming linen spray sounds like just the thing I need to wind down and relax before bed!
